Samples of Classic Radios on CD-ROM
An Addison Model 5 from the Classic Radios CD-ROM.
This pic is from the low-res image collection, which is "low-res" only
in comparison to the higher-res versions of the same pics. On the CD, this original
is a 24-bit color image, 533 x 413 pixels, 72 DPI resolution,
.TIF format, 645K in size. To conserve space, I reduced the image
50% in size and saved as a high-resolution JPEG file with a compression
factor of 20, resulting in a 14K file. Even after the reduction and
compression, it's a mighty fine picture.
This detail of the same radio gives a better
idea of the image quality. It shows
one knob, part of a vertical louver bar, and some grill cloth from the
radio pictured above. But it's taken from the CD's high-res collection. The
original full image is 24-bit color, 2220 x 1720 pixels,
300 DPI resolution, .TIF format, and 14.9 megabytes (!) in size. The snippet
you see here is 100% (no size reduction) and saved as a high-resolution
JPEG file with a compression factor of 1. At this level of detail,
you can count the fibers in the grill cloth!
