Coronado Model RA44-8140A Plastic Radio (1955)

This Coronado came in two colors: rosewood, which you see here, and coral. Its simple lines make a distinctive impression. The grill doesn't really have a moire pattern as it appears here. The grill is ivory plastic drilled with hundreds of tiny holes arranged in the usual straight lines. The moire effect is an artifact of the digitizing process I used.

I believe that Coronado was the brand name for the Gambles-Skogmo retail chain, just as Airline was used by Montgomery Wards and Silvertone was used by Sears Roebuck.
