About This Website

Hi, I'm Phil Nelson, and I don't consider myself a serious radio collector, although some folks might disagree. I've had loads of fun picking up these radios, and even more fun photographing them and putting the images online. This website provides a new way to enjoy my collection and to let others share that enjoyment.

I've learned a few things in the process—about photography as well as designing and programming a Web site. If you're curious about what it took, read about how I built this website.

If this is your first visit, plan to check our What's New page now and then. We're constantly adding new gallery items and information resources for collectors.

Since I launched this website in August, 1995, our counter has recorded close to a million visits to our front page. Starting around 2000, however, most visitors began to enter the website through other pages, resulting from a specific web search rather than starting at the home page and burrowing down. The last time I checked, we were getting anywhere from three to five thousand unique hits per day! If you do the math, this means our home-page hit counter is grievously behind the times, but I keep it there just for old time's sake.

Thanks again to the thousands of radio lovers who have sent me email over the years. It's fun to hear from fellow collectors (including beginners) around the world. This website is here to serve you, so please continue to let me know what you think.

Here are some additional thoughts on a worldwide virtual museum, which I wrote shortly after launching this website in 1995.
